Hello, so I work with Handbrake to try to re-encode my videos. For example, a movie that is a MPEG-4 Visual with profile Advanced Simple@L5, my Blu-ray does not play it. So I try to encode it to a H264 MP4, because my player accepts that, and encode it to H264/AVC HP 4.0. So I do that, and encode it.. and even though it's resized and on my computer plays, and shows on MediaInfo that it has changed... why my Blu-ray still doesn't reads it like it never changed? It happens with any tipe of re-encoding I make with Handbrake.
If you find a solution I'd be very grateful since I really need to re-encode to lower profiles so my Blu-ray can play, also resizing.
Here I show the media info of both files, the first from the original, the second, the re-encoding.

B_pyramid=2 may be causing problems in your standalone player. Change this to b_pyramid=0 and see if it helps.
I'd also change from variable framerate to constant framerate. -
Set Handbrake to use High Profile, Mp4 output.
Go to the Video tab and put a mark in the circle for Constant Framerate. Under Optimize Video, put a check mark in the box next to Use Advanced Tab Instead. Open the Advanced tab and next to the Pyramidal B-Frames, change from Normal (default) to Off.
Since you are starting with AC3 audio, and want that in the output, make sure you have AC3 passthrough selected in the Audio tab. But you seem to know how to use that already. -

Perhaps I should have said High Profile preset? This sets the encoder to use the same framerate as the input and default 20 CRF.
Looking at the change in the encoder commands, you could probably just add this line: b-pyramid=none
There is a box under Optimize Video for extra options where you could do this instead of using the Advanced tab control. -
Why are you ripping your original dvd and encoding to avi using Advanced Simple@L5 and then re-encoding to mp4?Use your original dvd to rip from and encode straight to mp4.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
