  1. Has anyone tried Netscape Navigator 9? How does it compare to Firefox or IE?

To be honest, I can't see a reason to.

  3. I just tried it, basically to see if they kept the old bookmark system which was cool, but no, just a copy of IE or Firefox.

Netscape was the shit way ... and I do mean WAY ... back in the day.

I tried it again after a few years of using IE because I got sick of using IE and it was better than using IE but eventually I ended up using FIREFOX which is the best of all three ... at least for now.

I'm using mostly LINUX now along with FIREFOX but my install of LINUX also comes with a browser called OPERA that seems kewl and in some ways seems less bloated than FIREFOX. In other words it feels a bit snappier on my system.

I still use FIREFOX like 99% of the time.

IMO, the last usable version of Netscape was the 7point2.
I still miss the "pro" look and features of the versions 4.08 and
4.61, and I really regret the fact that mozilla.org has been hijacked
by ultra-lazy developers... However Netscape 7.2 is a resource hog,
and fortunately there exists SeaMonkey, which is pretty less heavy than
    the latest versions of Netscape.

    Netscape is a resource pig.

IE7 is not a pig, but it has a lot of obnoxious "security" pop-ups that cannot be disabled.

Firefox can be a pig too, but only if you add lots of plug-ins. It's more stable and complies to web standards better than the others.

Netscape has no real purpose and exists now only for some reason that I truly don't understand. People who don't like IE (I don't, by the way) should use either Firefox or Opera. Netscape offers nothing that Firefox and Opera can't do.

Around the time of Netscape 6/7, Netscape was actually just a rebranded version of Firefox/Mozilla Suite (can't remember exactly which). I think more recent versions of Netscape have moved a little bit away from that, but I haven't wanted to install NS just to find out how much of it is still Mozilla-ish.
