  1. My sister-in-law gave me her old 37" 720 HD TV. It does not have a qam tuner, so I can't view the free / clear qam channels that TimeWarnerCable broadcasts in their $10/month "Broadcast Cable" package.

If I wanted to purchase an external qam tuner, is there anything better than this:

There are few stand alone ATSC/QAM tuners available that are 720p/1080i capable. Here is the full list (including discontinued) http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=179095

One other to compare is this one http://www.channelmasterstore.com/HD_Antenna_Tuner_CM_7001_p/cm-7001.htm
I have no experience with any of the current models.

That AVS forum is probably the best place to ask

There is a wide choice of computer QAM tuners.

I've got one of those K-Worlds (actually the VGA/Component version) and it works pretty well. I occasionally have to re-boot it and for some reason it drops channels once in a while. Plug your zip code in here: http://www.silicondust.com/support/channels/ and you should get a list of what to expect. Also the remote seems to have been designed by Space Aliens, as there are no words (just obscure symbols) on it.
