Standalone, I mean, as an alternative to firing up the browser w/ FLASH addon installed ?
FLV Player won't do it. VLC and GOM are my go-to players. I think neither of these cover SWF either.
When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.

MPC can play both SWF and FLV files nicely.

  3. There is a plugin for "Irfanview" you can download that will play .swf and flash files, but I don't think it does all that good a job. Irfanview is better just for working with picture formats. I did a google search and came across some information that said KMPlayer will play .swf files. KmPlayer is in the tool section so perhaps you might want to investigate that further.

Adobe makes an excellent free standalone swf/flash player. I've used it many times for off-line playing of Web .swf flash games that I've downloaded using Orbit. Unfortunately they make it very hard to find, unless you want the Mac version (trying to make inroads on Quicktime, maybe?)

No installation required, just run the .exe. Someone put it online here if you want to check it out:
