    Hi Everyone.

    i am new to this forum.

    Can someone please advise me on a good PORTABLE dvd player or similar device that can play .avi files via a memory stick.

    my 2-year old daughter would like to watch movies in the back seat of our car...

    i cannot find any...

    "AVI Files" can contain several different types of video inside them. Just because your video file ends with .AVI doesn't mean much. Most players need a specific "flavor" of AVI....if not....it simply will not play it. It's possible that you will pick a player that plays NONE of those files.

    There are no portable DVD players that can cope with all the various kinds of video that might be found in a .avi container. There are a few that can play divx video, but with restrictions. here is one example http://www.amazon.com/Coby-TF-DVD7377-7-Inch-Compatible-Portable/dp/B000NW2DE6

    A netbook might work, if someone other than the child will operate it.
