I have windows 7 on my laptop. I used to use Pinnacle 10 with win xp, and I could use the dazzle dvc100 device to import the movies from my hi8 camcorder to my computer via the usb cable. But now the dazzle dvc100 doesnt work, and when it does, I get jerky video in pinnacle 14. Is there another video editor and cable I can use

There is no firewire port on my laptop, the only port is usb

But an analog Hi8 camcorder wouldn't have a Firewire port. Only a few models use USB for stills. What is the camcorder model?

Are your computer specs right? 500 MHz CPU?

    OK on that computer.

You have options for USB capture.

    1. Uncompressed capture - See ATI USB 650/750 series. These also do hardware MPeg2 encoding.

    2. Hardware MPeg2 encodeing device - many choices. See Hauppauge (PVR) and Avermedia.

    For IEEE-1394 capture only

    3. Hardware DV encoding device - See Canopus (ADVC) or ADS (Pyro).
