Hi,
I have a 4:3 PAL project and I have been told to create..
a video that is 720 x 576 16:9 anamorphic or 4:3 anamorphic if using Premier pro
I have created a normal 4:3 avi however in a 16:9 player it is stretched. It evidently needs to have blanks on the sides so it is still in shape (pillarbox).
Created a 16:9 but it too was too stretched.
How do I do this please?
Thanks
oz

Told by whom?
If you encode a 4:3 video to play as 16:9, it will be stretched. Period.

Dubsat who are a TV ad delivery company. They say they now they will only accept 16:9 or 4:3 converted as they said. This is a 15 sec ad and everything was shot as 4:3.
Yes that's why I have to deliver it as a pillar box with black on the sides so it does not stretch. -
You have been here since 2003 and yet you are still going to post the same thing 3 times in 3 different forums ?!?!?!
Talk about text book definition of FU#*TARD!!!!

Yes I apologize for that. I posted in pure panic as I have a deadline that is yesterday to go to air.
I didn't see the Video Conversion forum area, so posted in the first one, then saw what I thought were better ones for help with deleting the previous ones.
I joined in 2003, not here everyday like some.

The link I included in post #3 earlier explains the problem.

So, to convert a 4:3 PAL DVD for encoding as 16:9 with pillarbars (as opposed to cutting off the top and bottom), one way is (using AviSynth notation):
LanczosResize(528,Height) #figures from FitCD
AddBorders(96,0,96,0)
That says to resize to 528x576 and then add 96 columns of black to both the left and right sides to bring the width back up to 720. Encode as 16:9. And by the way, converting 4:3 to 16:9 in this manner loses resolution. Note the original width being cut from 720 to 528.
You wrote you have an AVI but conveniently neglected to give the resolution or anything else about what you've done so far. And I don't use Premiere Pro. -
Thank you manono for your help and explanation. I'll be glad when this thing is done!

Who's fault is that ?
And your point ??
What profanity ??
You mean what you perceive to be profanity ?
Not an issue of being dumb.... but an issue of "common sense".....
Hey!!
Maybe if I post this 20 times on the same site I will be 20 times more likely to get a useful answer!!! -
