Hi all. I made a disk image of my c: and d: drive with Acronis True Image and Windows Vista as my OS. Can I restore those images if I upgrade the OS to Windows 7?

    In a nutshell NO..

the disk imagine has the OS on it.. when you restore the imagine.. you will overwrite your Windows 7... with
    Windows Vista.

if you read the 1st post... he backed up all his data with a disk image program... upgraded to windows 7 and then wants to restore his programs and data from the disk imagine..

that will only erase his windows 7 (that he just upgraded) back to windows vista..

i dont think thats what he wants

You cannot install it on a different computer with the same OS unless, it is the same MB and peripherals.

Ah, figured so. Thanks for the help. I'll have to backup folder and files instead, before installing Windows 7.

  7. That's not going to work either, unless you are just talking about data files. Programs will need to be re-installed.
