  1. Hello.

I'm also looking for some very flexible software to convert movies from hi def formats (like mkv) to avi (DivX, XviD). It would be nice if i can choose bitrate in 1kbps steps (video and audio), codecs (video and audio), all other things (framerate, frame size, audio sample rate, audio channels). Especially i want to use AC3 audio on converted avi video files.

    Thank you.

Loads of tools around for this purpose, e.g. Xvid4PSP and XMediaRecode. Take a look here and choose your favorite:

Haven't tested it myself, but it seems most users around here go with Xvid4PSP.

I still use xvid4psp 5, autogk and handbrake 0.9.3 for avi xvid conversions. Because many newer conversion software are focusing on mp4/mkv with h264 conversion. Like Handbrake, Ripbot264, Vidcoder.

Format Factory might also work. But haven't tested it with any xvid conversions.

....and why are you asking basically the same thing in two different threads?
