i converted an avi movie to a dvd file using dvd flick. i did not click on ISO file though. so clearly, i have separate video and audio ts folders. the VOB files play well. when i burned the dvd using nero, i added the video ts and it automatically does everything. when burning was done, i played it in a stand alone DVD. however the audio is high pitched which sounded like chipmunks. what went wrong?

The problem is not the burning. You'd get nothing at all, not a subtle change like audio tone.
I don't use DVD flick, so I don't know how automatic it is in making settings, but I suspect either the frame rate, or audio sampling rate are wrong.
Use something like G-Spot to diagnose your VOB files and you might work it out.
-- Hmm , as others have noted, possibly Nero took it on itself to reencode your files.
How long did it take from selecting the files to finish of burn? If it was only a few minutes, probably didn't have long enough to reencode. -
i tried using IMGBURN. to no avail though. i changed cd but still no success. here is the IMGBURN log.

Most quality DVD burners....combined with ImgBurn...can get good burns
from junk DVDRs....you have a junk burner using junk media...there is no nice way to say it....sorry.
You also need to take control of the burn speed. DO NOT allow ImgBurn or any other program to burn at
MAX speed....especially with your burner and your choice of DVDR brands. -
you must have copied JUNK and pasted several times to save time.
thank you for the much needed reply though. will see to it that hardware change will be sought.
thank you again! -
Sony DVD-R is not junk, if made in Taiwan.
See www.nomorecoasters.com
Malaysian Sony, yeah, not too hot.
Laptop drive? Yeah, not so hot.
Nero is not really suggested either.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
