    HI Guys,

Was wondering what free and/or pay software you would recommend? I would like to see the following in my software version:

    1) Very easy to navigate and ability to make new entries very simply.
    2) Large database of CD/DVD's to choose from
    3) Lots of pictures to make doing this boring job fun and not boring

Thanks for your help on this.
    Thank You,

    GolfNut

  2. My Movies Collection Management is great for DVDs. It is designed for use with Windows Media Center, but it is still very useful for non WMC users.

It can work alongside AnyDVD to automatically rip a DVD to a hard drive and add the disc information to your library.

It's also pretty fun in that you can add DVD information to your library simply by scanning the bar code with a webcam.

Thanks for the info but way to pricey for me at $200 for WMC and $50 for AnyDVD totals $250.
    Thank You,

Give this a try. http://nuclear-coffee.com/MyMusicCollection It works for me to keep all my collection of CD's and DVD's on my PC.
If it feels good, do it.

  6. I recommend you to take a look at this file management software. You can set up your own file server for managing and sharing files through web browser. It's like DropBox but self-hosted so that you can keep all your confidential files on your own server. The web based UI looks and feels like Windows 7 Explorer. It offers features that are not possible with a FTP server such as zipping files, downloading multiple files and folders in single download etc. It's also easier to set up and administrate than a FTP server.

According to what I have read about it, My Movies Collection Management also works with Media Portal, and there is a My Movies scraper for XBMC that uses My Movie Collection's data service within XBMC. Both Media Portal and XBMC are free media center software, and highly customizable, but more complicated to set up than Windows 7's Media Center. (I have tried both of them, but in the end I preferred Windows 7 Media Center for that reason, and because I hope to get a CableCARD tuner someday.)

It appears that My Movies Collection Management uses a point system where points can be purchased or earned by contributing data, and points are used to pay for activation of various features provided by My Movie Collection products.
