I watched the sticky note video on the differences between pressed and burned discs. I understand how the laser burn marks act as the pits. Non-rewritables I can grasp, but how does the burned dye get replaced on RW's when they are altered, erased, etc.?

It’s my understanding that the Laser in the burner is turned on at a lower temp and ran over the entire surface of the RW media. This causes the material on the surface to be de-pitted and ready for the next burn, which uses the higher temperature.
