    what possibly free app out there can i use to capture my vhs tapes too 720x576 4:3 mpeg2 .mpg plz

  2. There's no 'app' and nothing free. Between the VCR and the computer you have to install a capture card, a USB capture device, a DV device such as a Canopus box, buy a DVD recorder, take your pick.

    With a little looking around you can find many suggestions and solutions.

    yes i have a usb capture card on my pc im running windows 7 what app can i use to rec to .mpg

    usb capture card comes with capture software.

    mine was given too me by my mate without the cd

    i know i can use virtualdub but i want to rec the videos too .mpg

    but don't know if its capture in mpeg2 file

    Look at the 'Software' section of the site for 'capture' tools. Some are free.

    The issue is the drivers that your card supports so, since you do not even know what that is, you will just have to try them. And without drivers the card will not work regardless of software.

    My guess is that it is a easyc(r)ap and drivers are not so easy to come by for Win7

    Does the device show up in the list of connected USB devices, and/or whatever Win7 is calling the Device Manager these days? Whatever name it appears under might provide a clue. Also, it's probably a long shot, but it might even help to post a picture of what the USB capture device looks like here. Someone may recognize it.

    i have installed honestech TVR 2.5 but when i rec a video the video stops all i can hear is audio and when i play it back its only rec 5sec and looks like a slide show my computer is fast its an i7
