  1. How do I get my LG RHT497H to recognize mp3's on the USB drive?

    The specs say nothing about MP3s from a USB device. It says:
    MP3 CD-R/RW

    No idea why yours can't. Have you actually transferred them to the USB stick?

    Best guess - make sure your USB device is using FAT32 (best) or FAT16 (less good) as its file system. Anything else is unlikely to work.

    The link provided by hech54 does NOT explicitly state that MP3 playback via USB is supported. It may or may not be. If you are using FAT32 or FAT16 on your USB device and it still won't recognize the files, then you will have to contact LG and get them to clarify whether they really support MP3 playback via USB or not. Many DVD players actually do not support playback via USB and use it only for things like firmware updates.
