Cry for help from the "Know your audience" department. I'm a video editing enthusiast, not a source code savvy individual (or a Win32 binaries professional).

I have downloaded the latest binaries for Aften; and the GUI.

I have NO idea which set of binaries to use. I have an AMD 2800+ Processor, WinXP Pro, etc. Typical 32 bit OS. I don't know where to put the binaries/utilities in relation to the GUI program file.

I just would like to know how to make 1 AC3 file from 5 mono surround sound WAV files.
    and
Typical Stereo AC3 file from a typical stereo WAV file (like FFMPEG).

I hear Aften is the newest "darling" but she's an ugly duck in the "how do I use this thing?" department.

Will an Audition 1.5 or 2.0 WAV file work?
    It's one WAV encoded 5.1

Yeah, it should work fine, as long as it adheres to the "standard" (if there is such a thing) channel mapping. L-R-C-LFE-sL-sR .Not a problem with stereo WAV files (although it is better if the audio is 48000 sample rate).

Awesome. I'll give it a shot on a test DVD soon. I appreciate it.

(Still wouldn't mind knowing which Aften binaries to use, though... )

    Download CPU-Z http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

http://win32builds.sourceforge.net/aften/index.html You want the latest SVN Win32 Binaries (Either the ZIP or the RAR will do)

Only if you're using a front-end that calls for them (Newest version of BeLight?)- otherwise, they are functionally identical to the EXEs. Not needed in most cases.
