This may sound like a dumb question.
I have looked around and not found an answer,,, so I am sorry if it is already on the site.

I received a miniDVD disc. It was recorded in DVD+RW format, but recorded to a DVD-r miniDVD.

Hence none of my players, including ROM will recognize it.

Is there any way to rescue the footage?

Will the original camera play it? Is there software that can "rip" this and allow me use it?
    Thanks

Are you sure the DVD-R mini disc is finalized? If not, that would be one reason why none of your players recognize it. I don't have a DVD recorder, but I know that DVD+RW discs often have a special directory in addition to VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS that the recorders use for temporary storage. Does the VIDEO_TS directory look sane (ie. not empty) on the disc? If it's empty and all the data is in that special directory, that would certainly be a problem. In theory, the DVD should be rippable and then you could re-burn it. If you can find the old DVD Decrypter, it can do the job. I think that ImgBurn can read non-encrypted DVDs and you can easily find it, so you might try that.
