Hi all,

I've been having success capturing VHS tapes to MPEG2 using MainConcept Capture software - however I have a couple of questions that I can't find the answers for:

1. ColorSpace - the capture card(s) that I use can capture in YUY2 or RGB24 - I was led to believe that MainConcept always works in RGB24 - does this mean if I am capturing directly to MPEG2 and I select YUY2 colorspace that MC will convert to RGB24 on the fly? Loss of quality?

2. Profiles - I can use the 4:2:2 Profile or the Main Profile 4:2:0
I know that the file size will be a little bigger using 4:2:2 - and when I demuxed to .m2v and .mp2 using either ProjectX or DGIndex the file size does get reduced

I then convert the .mp2 to wave then to .ac3 (believing that NTSC DVD's have to have .ac3 - is this the case?) then I use either Muxman or DVDAuthor to create the DVD files for burning . . .

My question here is:
am I getting any better quality by capturing in 4:2:2 profile which after demuxing turns into 4:2:0 or will I get the exact same quality just by capturing using the Main Profile 4:2:0

Any suggestions are appreciated. TIA
