Pinnacle Studio became my favorite when I purchased it with DC10Plus capture card back in late 90’s because it would not actually render the entire video as one file and take a lot of HD space after creating a video for outputting to tape, while the earlier versions of Ulead Media Studio and Adobe Premiere were actually creating a huge AVI file for outputting to tape.

Question to users of Ulead Media Studio and Adobe Premiere products: how do latest versions of these products work? Do they create an AVI file of entire video for playback, or they just render the transitions, titles, etc. only and use the actual captured video files while outputting to video as Pinnacle Studio does? I guess my question is mostly addressed to outputting to analog video or DV tape, since for DVD project any NLE product will create the VOB files on the hard drive for later burning.
