I'm lookin at the new Pannys with the 3mos sensors and hard drive for a school reunion held in a dimly lit catering hall. I also have video editing software called Magix Movie Edit Pro 12 that I'm trying to master.

I know that an $800 dollar palmcorder won't give me the look of an $8,000 one but I'd like to get as close as possible to professional quality as I can.

Now, the question is, since I am not gonna just shoot a video like in the old days and just pop the VHS tape in the TV but am going to edit and add special effects, what file format should I save the footage to for burning onto a Blueray burner so it can be viewed on an HD plasma screen?

I know nothing about MPG2, MPG4, DV-Avi, or avi, etc. etc. and their pros and cons so any help, suggestions or criticisms will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks to all!
