I am using a Canon ZR65MC camcorder and am getting skipping in the video just in the first 20 seconds of capture (using WinDV) to window XP desktop. Any thoughts?

Beginning of the clip or beginning of the tape?
You should start recording about 30-60 seconds in on tape. I record a minute or so with lens capped, then back it up a few seconds for serious recording.
If this problem is clip related throughout the tape, maybe the camcorder isn't servo locking in the first few seconds (a defect). Or the tape is sticky from heat or age. Try a new tape.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
