    Hey all-

So, I have a 2 hour, and 10 min performance that I have rendered out with Sony Vegas, totaling a 4.51GB file. The disks I bought, were 4.70GB, but when placed into my computer, they were only 4.38GB. Now I have a 4.51GB file, and need to throw it on a 4.38GB disk. How can I shave off 0.20GB?! Anyone have any suggestions?

Dvdflick should be able to sort it out ... you simply setup a few options after input file is chosen and let it do the rest ... depending on system speed it may take a while.

Realistically you should target an output at around 4.2gig leaving a little space for overhead ... menu's ect.

  4. In case you haven't figured it out, disc manufacturers mean 1,000,000,000 bytes (1000 * 1000 * 1000) when they say G. Windows means 1,073,741,824 bytes (1024 * 1024 * 1024) when it says G. So:

    4.7 GB * 1,000,000,000 / 1.073,741,824 = ~4.38 Gib

I do not know what you mean by "file" and what you want to do with it ...

If it is a VIDEO_TS folder and if you want to make a 4.7 MB DVD out of it ,then use DVD shrink to compress it.
In DVD shrink ,ask for an "analysis" to have VBR (Variable Bit Rate) compression and better quality.
