  1. Some videos that I ripped and compressed have changing white lines in the upper left corner when played on my co-star media player. I have searched my ass off looking for an explanation as to what they are and how to remove/avoid them.

    If the lines only show up in this scenario.....then it's the media player or the television.

    If that turns out to be the case try a simpler preset in Handbrake.

  4. It only happens with some videos. I think it is some kind of embedded information. Yes the media player is not filtering something. When I play the MP4 on my computer I see no lines.

  5. Get a better media player ?

    Or if you want to try to figure out what causes it, you can look at mediainfo(view=>text) and compare what is different about the videos that have the artifacts
