For capturing my VHS tapes I have narrowed down my choice of capture card to:-
1) Canopus ADVC-50 Analogue to Digital Converter (£150)
2) Compro Gold Plus (£40)
Question is will I see any different in terms of capture fidelity between these 2 cards as they both feature svhs video input + audio?
THe difference I see is the Canopus captures to DV and the Compro can capture to avi.
I am not sure if capturing to DV is a drawback in terms of using Avisynth to process the video?
Any comments welcome.

Philips capture chip on the Compro, I think.
Should be fine.
Canopus sells their name. You overpay for that alone.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
