I'm looking to replace my old Handbrake program. I'm looking for a good, simple program that works with XVid and has filters such as deinterlace, denoise, decomb and detelecine in its GUI.

    Any recommendations would be welcome.

    Thanks...John

Oh, you actually meant a "converter"

Handbrake still works fine for me so I have not really tried anything else.

Thanks, Baldrick. I tried Staxrip, but I guess I'll stick to Handbrake. I only had one issue with it. It's with setting Xvid's profile. Handbrake won't address issues with older versions. I'm going to ask my question with a new thread.

Not really different than Handbrake, but you might look into VidCoder. It's a GUI for Handbrake that makes the program a bit easier to use.

Vidcoder looks great, but it doesn't work with Xvid.

    Newer handbrake versions don't either.

I like avidemux for encodes to xvid myself. I think it has all those filters but I may be wrong.

FYI Handbrake should be coming out with a new version fairly soon.
I wish I knew exactly when though.

In the 2nd sentence of the original post in this thread, the original poster stated that he wants to use Xvid. Handbrake stopped supporting Xvid years ago, so a new version won't do him any good. He's stuck with the last version they put out that supports Xvid encoding.

Anyway, it's not the easiest program to use (the OP will likely need to find a guide), but Xvid4PSP can be used to encode with Xvid. I've done so. It might meet his needs.

Yeah I personally have used avidemux for Xvid encodes (which isn't often ). Never tried
    Xvid4PSP. But I guess I will now.
