  1. How do I correct the language of an .srt subtitle on playback on my TV via WDTV Live. The selected language at the moment displays “Undetermined Subtitle Track” for any language selection but other than it displays correctly and I would like to change it to its correct corresponding language i.e. eng for english, dut for dutch etc or whatever the correct format would be.

  2. Language can indicated at the container level. For MKV you can use MMG (MkvMergeGui).

Oh, wait, you're talking about a separate SRT file (not embeded subs)? For separate SRT file you put then language in the name:

    Code:
    Movie Name.mkv
    Movie Name.english.srt
    Movie Name.dutch.srt

  3. Hi jagabo,

Do you mean that I put movie.english.srt instead of movie.eng.srt?

  4. I took an english srt and changed the srt name to:

    *.eng.srt show up as "english"
    *.english.srt show up as "english"
    *.fr.srt show up as "french"
    *.dut.srt show up as "dut"
    *.xblrlx.srt show up as "xblrlx"

So some abbreviations are expanded to the full language name, others not. Nonsense text is shown as-is.

Of course, this behavior may vary depending on the exact model and firmware.
