    Hey everyone,

I am using Final Cut Pro to import the DAT file from the VCD into FCP and export out as MOV file. There was no sound when I play back the MOV file.

    Can one help me?

I also try cleaner 6 to export to MOV file but it can't convert, it just a blank screen. I can play the DAT file fine on the Windows with WM Player.

Easy--your .DAT file is MPEG-1 video.
    FCP cannot handle MPEG-1 files,
as these are final formatted ( muxed).

You will need Mpeg-Streamclip to convert the file
first to DV Stream or to demux it, back into its
    elementary components, before bringing it
    into FCP.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

It works fine but the video didn't have good quality. The video have blue & green color sometimes randomly.

First I choose highest quality use all default compression (Apple Motion ..).

Then I use H.24 compression with highest quality. Still doesn't work well. Which codec compression is the best for VCD? Thank you.

    for finalized DAT/MPEG-1?
    nothing.

Mpeg-1 video is compressed to the lowest bitrates possible to
fit within 650MB of disc space ( a CD) . Therefore a lot of redundnat
color info is tossed, and the output quality is like that of a decent VCR
    recording.
    see here.

Using MpegStreamclip to flatten it to DV Stream will yeild your
best chance of getting it into FCP. Trying to get that
file into another format using any other codec, such as
Apple Motion, H.264 or XVID will be worthless, because the
video is already finalized, and what's in there can't be made better,
only be made to be accepted into your NLE's standard input file.
    (GIGO).

If you want a better quality input, you will need to get either a
Mpeg-2 ( DVD Quality) file of the movie, or the original source footage.
