I've got a letterboxed video file, that is in SVCD resolution (480x480), and I'd like to remove the letterboxing, but also leave enough to compensate for the overscan. I read that overscan takes about 10% of the picture, so does that mean I need to leave 24 pixels on top and 24 on bottom (making it a total of 48) to compensate for the overscan? Or do a add 10% to the trimmed (unletterboxed) movie resolution? An example would be, say the trimmed movie is 360 after trimming off the black boarders, would I then only need to add 18 on top and 18 on bottom?
If you are wondering why I'm doing this, I've got a widescreen TV, and I then encode in TMPGEnc with "full screen", so when I have my TV stretch the 4:3 image, it fills my 16x9 screen, and looks in proportion.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks.
