Hey guys. I'm pulling out my hair here trying to figure this out. I've been googling and downloading every possible fix I can imagine and I just can't figure it out.. any help you can provide would be so appreciated..
So I was given 2 large (~7GB each.. lossless) .avi files that I'm trying to view properly in Adobe Audition and Premiere Pro. They were both recorded with mostly the same settings, save for a few small differences, but one will play properly in audition and one will not, even when converted! More irritatingly, the video file that's giving me problems plays properly in MPC-HC so I can't figure out what's wrong with it.
First off, one of the two files works just fine in both Audition and Premiere Pro. And I've tried viewing the problem file on multiple PCs with these programs and the result is always the same. I've tried converting them to mp4 (h264), but the problematic file STILL has issues. I've tried repair tools but it always gives me errors - I've tried demuxing the audio out (which is what I suspect is the problem), but whenever I do this in vdub or vdubmod, the resulting video file is more messed up than the original even in stream copy form.
I even tried recording MPC-HC playing the video file correctly.. which gave me somewhat improved results, but then the video just plays at super speed in both programs..
When I try to edit/view a capture of the file playing in MPC-HC OR the original AVI, the problem file plays its video way faster than it is supposed to.
When trying to view the file converted into MP4, the problem file plays fine up until halfway through the video and then the video cuts out and only displays a black screen.
The other file, which I've had no problems with at all, displays correctly in both programs as an MP4 file (h264).

Are you reconverting the video when converting to mp4? Or just remuxing to mp4(copy video and audio streams).
Width : 1 920 pixels
Height : 1 200 pixels
Maybe try resize to 1080 pixels. -
I tried both remuxing and converting, but I was not able to successfully convert because I got an error for almost every other codec I tried
I haven't tried resizing it though. I will try that. Thanks!
edit: actually, upon further reflection, I did re-encode it using handbrake. That did yield an MP4 file that behaved as I described the other one to behave (cutting off mid-playback in the Adobe programs only)Last edited by Poptartica; 25th Aug 2014 at 15:04.
