DVD will not read in other dvd players

I have PYE DVD recorder, and when I record tv shows, it plays back fine on the dvd player. When I take the disc out and put it in any other dvd player or any other computer, the disc wont read and comes up as empty. The disc has been written on though and plays fine in the recorder. Anyone know why this is and if it is fixable?

Is the disc finalized?

What type of media is it and what brand?

If the disc has not been finalized, it will play fine in your recorder but you must finalize the disc to be able to play same in any other player or computer.

As noted above, the disc needs to be finalized to be readable in other players. Also ensure you are video mode (not VR mode), for playback compatibility in other players.
