I have seen some videos in Youtube with horizontal pixel number of 1072 better than 1080 version. This is due to some encoding with multiples of 16, some complex mechanics which I am not aware of.

So, should a video be converted to 1072 for Youtube? Is 1080 the better choice everywhere else, such as in WMP? Or someone can point me to the correct forum for further details.

I am sure if you claim that to be the case you have some examples ready, could you link them please?

Doesn't matter what YOU or anybody else attempts to provide Youtube with, as they re-encode everything to their own specs. Also, "1072" is not one of their encoded settings, so I don't know where you THINK you are seeing this, but it is an error on your part.

Youtube allows many input format sizes, but prefers standard ones.

    For output, YT provides:
    144p
    240p
    360p
    480p
    720p
    1080p
    ...possibly higher (2160p)

Note that 1072 is NOT in that list.

The option for seeing which of these are available is primarily dependent upon your internet download bandwidth capability.

They also provide QHD (e.g. 1440p).

It looks to me that Youtube allows a little fudging of numbers. If you check the "stats for nerds". The video is shown as 1920x1072, or 1280x714 and so forth. I went ahead and downloaded the video and it is, 1920x1072.

No it's actually 1920 x 1072. Don't know how he managed to keep it at that resolution without youtube resizing it. Don't know if I would trust the results either. I doubt any improvements.
