Hi, i'm a total newbie in video editing, so need your advice.
I want to pack a single .vob file into mkv container and im trying to do this using avidemux 2.6.8 and mkvmerge 7.6.0.
    - mkvmerge generates 'bad' .mkv with noticeable A/V sync issue.
    - avidemux does it without A/V being out of sync, but for some reason it indicates the time of 1st frame of input .vob = 500ms, and output .mkv = 520ms.
So now i have 2 mkv files generated by avidemux and mkvmerge from 1 source .vob-file. If i extract a/v timecodes of these mkv files with MKVcleaver 0.6.0.6, then the numbers inside the .txt-file of 'normal' mkv timecode will be significantly different from numbers representing timecode of 'bad' mkv with sync issues. Avidemux adds a constant time lag = 500ms and variable amount of mseconds throughout timeline but this magically leads to desireable result.
So, does all that mean, that mkvmerge and avidemux uses different processing algorythms/works in completely different ways? I would be satisfied with avidemux, but i wonder why does it add 500ms lag and is there any chance that this lag can have a negative effect after changing video player (current is VLC), OS (current = win8.1)?

B.T.W, whats interesting with avidemux, is if i extract .ac3 from input .vob and then select this track as desired audio for output .mkv and then try to actually generate .mkv, then i get audio out of sync on 500ms ahead of video. If i just generate .mkv from .vob without 'changing' audio track, then everything will be fine.

    Timecodes in attachement...

    Thanks for your reply, Baldrick!
Output generated by MakeMKv has audio out of sync. Seems that this software has only detected problems, but didnt correct them...
    Here is MakeMKv log:
