    We are looking to purchase software for a project that requires a 4 way split screen. We are pretty familiar with Pinnacle, and were considering buying 17, but can't determine if it is capable. Anyone know if it is? Or is there a better option without a second mortgage. Any input appreciated.

  2. Pinnacle can do it fine.

    Depending on the format of your source footage and the power of your computer, realtime playback may not be possible -- but you should have no problem creating the effect and rendering out the results.

    AviSynth can do it easily and for free:

    A=StackHorizontal(Video1,Video2)
    B=StackHorizontal(Video3,Video4)
    StackVertical(A,B)

    Yes, Avisynth can easily do it for free. If you want a GUI, then Aviutl can also do it for free.

    This is a very minimalistic requirement actually............

  5. ffmpeg - also realtime (bonus can accept various inputs - capture, streams etc)

  6. One determinant is how accurate the sync needs to be, and how much you need to be able to see what you're doing while you're doing it.
