    Hey guys,
The video is in MP4 and I just want it to be concatenate without reencoding. It was actually fine after joined but when I played it and drag it around, the video will be grey-like. The audio is fine. The only problem is the video playback after joined it.
I've tried avidemux, ffmpeg, mp4joiner, yamb and all of them gave me the same result.

    Thanks for your concern.

  2. Wild guess: the content of the mp4 files you used is not compatible with each other.
-> compare the detailed analysis outputs of MediaInfo for a rough comparison of the two files.

  3. Try appending with MKVMergeGUI. The output will be MKV but if there's an issue it should offer a warning or error. Maybe MP4 muxers aren't as informative. I'm not sure as I rarely use MP4 myself.

An alternative might be to remux them as individual MKVs, but MKVs can be linked. A player which supports linked MKVs should play them as a single file (or automatically play them one after the other) even if the video/audio are different.

@hello_hello: There are warning given after I mux it.
    https://forum.videohelp.com/images/imgfiles/4xHXMkA.png

I have also tried extract .h264 and .aac using mkvextract and then remux it with mkvmerge.
No error or warning given but the video still choppy.

VideoReDo TV Suite could probably join them together without any problems, but it's not a free program.

It works like a charm. I found the software somewhere and it works just fine for my video.
Thanks everyone for helping me out.

  7. For the record, I'm pretty sure the problem relates to this x264 option (given the warning MKVMergeGUI offered). https://mailman.videolan.org/pipermail/x264-devel/2013-July/010167.html

Unless the video was encoded in one go, then split, in which case it probably wouldn't apply. I think changes were made to the encoder which effected the ability to append files and the stitchable option was added a little later to fix that...... so you could originally append encodes, then not so much for a few x264 versions, then you could again.

I'd be interested to learn how VideoReDo appends the video without it resulting in the same playback issue, assuming I'm on the right track regarding the cause. Anyone know??
