I'm trying to join the m2ts streams of Lord of the Rings, extended cuts which are 2-disc movies.

The best solution so far is using tsMuxeR, eac3to and a script generator. That solution, I found here but isn't perfect...

The DTS-Master gets converted to Dolby. To be sure, I've tried tsMuxeR and TSSplitter to join the files but the audio is out of sync after the merge point.

Is there anything new on this?

Hello there,
First, sorry about any bad grammar, English is not my native language.
I have been using videohelp.com from years now, it's the best video site in my opinion but this is the first time using the forums here. I tried searching on internet or other forum posts in here to get a conclusion about the subject but im still not sure where should I look for starting with blue ray authoring. Sorry if my questions are very obvious or something Im just trying to start at the right direction.

I have a HDR-XR100 camcorder that records in AVCHD format. Until now I was very happy using the camcorder in SD settings and authoring my videos to DVD. Now I finally bought a blue ray writer and im wondering about start recording in AVCHD to author the final blue ray discs.

1- After reading about AVCHD format and general stand alone players compatibility I really want to produce standard blue ray video discs and not AVCHD. I will need to transcode the original h.264 video to some other h.264 video to accomplish this? I really hope it doesn't need to be done this way, you know, information losses also big processing times. There are practical ways to convert AVCHD to standard blue ray format without transcoding? If I will really need transcoding, any suggestions on good (preferable free), programs to accomplish this stage ?

2- For SD format i just use a program called MPEG Video Wizard DVD to cut parts of the original clips and "clue" the resulting clips into a new solid stream _without_ transconding. Now for AVCHD or blue ray video there are programs I can use for this ? Suggestions?

3- To author the disk from SD format Im using the program "DVD lab pro", its really a great one, simple to use (yet powerful if you need it), and not a PC resource hog. With this one i create menus, chapters, insert background images and music, create video flows etc. What are the nice, user friendly programs for this final step of authoring? Suggestions ? I checked and unfortunately this program I use doesn't support blue ray yet.

At this point my main concern is about discovering if I will need to transcode the video files. Using the files "out of the box" from the camcorder, not losing quality, is really a great deal. I hope I will be able to do the same now with blue rays.

Sorry about the quite extensive text. Also im not expecting very detailed responses but general clues to head me into the right direction.

Many thanks,
Rodrigo

I've been trying to use tsMuxeR to combine my .mkv movie files with .srt subs to play on the home theater system via BD. I start out by dropping the .mkv's and .srts into the interface, changing the level to 4.1 (if not there already), specifying the output path, and selecting the "Blu-ray disk" radio button. I then click start muxing. From there, I use ImgBurn to burn the resulting BDMC and CERTIFICATE folders onto a 25GB Blu-ray disk.

I've been having <50% success rate using this method. 90% of the time I have issues here's what happens. I get a "successful" burn, pop the Blu-Ray into the player, and all that I get is sound. No videos, no subs, nothing except sound. Most of the time it's just black. Occasionally, the Blu-Ray player interface background will stay up while the sound plays.

When I pop the disk back into my computer it reads it just fine. I can even play it from there, however if I look into the folder structure the file type it is M2TS. I suspect that this is the reason I'm not getting video but am not knowledgeable enough to be certain. I am, however, 100% sure that I'm selecting the "Blu-Ray" options vs. the "M2TS" radio in tsMuxeR.

Does anybody know what's going on or how I can fix it? When I select a Blu-Ray burn should it be producing M2TS files in the folder structure at all? I'd appreciate any info or tips.

Can anyone advise on what settings would be good or if I'm going about this the wrong way? I'll likely use Nero Video to author the blu ray because it's pretty straightforward.

Hi,

I use Total Media Extreme 2 to create a blu-ray folder and then burn it with ImgBurn. I just got a new PC (my old one died) and this is the first time I'm trying to make s blu-ray on my new pc. I used FRAPS videos for my blu-ray and I use TDK 4x 25 GB BD-R Printable discs (I get them from Japan).

The problem I am having is that, while watching a video on the disc, I can't fast-forward, skip to next video/sub-chapter, or go to the previous video/sub-chapter. If I try that, the image just freezes for a little bit and then it goes straight to the main menu. If I try selecting a sub-chapter from one of the video sub-menus, the same thing happens.

This happened to me before, way back when I first started burning blu-rays on my previous PC. The problem went away after some time (I still don't know why it just magically went away) and I've had no trouble with BD-R discs since then (until now with my new PC). Is there something I need to update on my pc to get this working? It plays fine on my PC, but not on my Blu-ray player.

My Blu-ray player is a Panasonic DMP-BD85. Other TDK discs that were done on my old pc work fine, so either I have something set-up wrong in ImgBurn (I let it select the correct options when it auto-detected during my first burn) or TME2 or my blu-ray writable drive. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem? I can't really watch any of the pc game videos I recorded because there's no way (aside from watching the whole video again) to get back to the spot I stopped at previously. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, the discs were burned at 4.0x (which is apparently the default write speed for ImgBurn), but since the disc was successfully verified after the burn finished, I'm assuming that burning it at the disc's Max speed isn't what's causing the problem, right?

Thanks.

EDIT: BTW, my PC's B-R writable drive model is PLDS DH-8B2SH.

Hi to everyone and first of all excuse me for my poor English.
I have a question about 3d Bluray reauthoring.
i did a lot of 2d blu-ray reathouring following a guide that i found on this fantasric site, (using Multiavchd to remove unwanted extras and languages and br-rebuilder to fit the size in 25 gb) with fantastic results.
Last month i bought a 3d Monitor and my first 3d Bluray (Life of Pi).
I have read a lot of posts about 3d ripping so i downloaded the trial of DVDFAB that if i understood rightly, is the only tool to manage correctly 3d blu-ray for resizing.
I shrinked the 3d bluray with good result but i couldn't remove any extra: Can Multiavchd make the work as it does for 2d Bluray?
Does some other tool exist that make it for 3d bluray?
Thanks in advance!

After using Any DVD to copy to hard disk, BD Info to get the play stream, then tsMuxeR GUI to output it via M2TS muxing. I am getting either sound with commentary from the directors, no matter what combination I seem to select or no sound at all.

Can you suggest how to strip the commentary out? I tried to use eac3to but could not get it to work, some lines on the command promp window flashes and then closes and does nothing). I do not have Nero ACC encorder but the AVS4You suite.

Regards and thanxs in advance.

Hi: Can anyone help me with this? I'm running uncropMKV on a .mkv file.

I've been using uncropMKV for quite a while now. Suddenly it started failing with the following error:

Error: The file '[<path-to-file-ending-in>.264]' has unknown type. Please have a look at the supported file types...
I do look at the supported file types via "mkvmerge --list-types" and h264 does show up.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing; did same on another machine - same error shows up.

I'm running W7 (the other machine I tried was XP). The error seems to indicate some sort of registry error, maybe?
I have installed some (similar) apps that may have overwritten something related to x264 in registry(?). Dunno...currently at the end of my proverbial rope!

Can you please tell me what to try next?

Thx,
