I'm not really sure why the timing is off.

I then tried downloading subtitle edit and adjusting the fps, which synched decently to the beginning of the movie, but not the rest of it at all. I'm not entirely sure why this is happening, my theory is that perhaps something went wrong with dvd decryptor and that's why even the idx file is messed up.

However it's worth noting that when I play the vob file that I got from dvd decryptor, and enable subtitles normally, the timing is fine. Not sure why it works within the original files, but not when I load the extracted subtitles as either .sub or .srt.

I have 2 subtitles which are written (time-aligned) by 2 different sources/people... but subtitle is for the same TV series. (one sub is in English, the other is in Korean). Both file formats are in now SRT (Korean one was originally in SMI). I use Beyond Compare (file compare) to do most of the hard work and align the (roughly similar) timings & dialogue together.

NB: since they are written by different people/sources, the ID# numbering is different, and the display times are slightly different, each with different duration times. Another problem is that some lines are split & shown different times (one after another) whilst the other subtitle shows both lines at same time.

Question: which is the best problem to create multi-language subtitle files? I would like to merge/unify the subs.

I guess my big task now is to ensure the split/multi lines match each sub. So basically, I am working with Bollywood movies to try and cut out songs (music videos) and include the English subtitles with them. This is for a business I work for.

I figure I have 2 options:

Option 1
a. Find an HD copy of the entire movie (in any format) and a matching SRT file
b. Embed the SRT file into the movie so it is 1 file
c. Cut out the music video that I need

Option 2 (because I have tons of music videos already downloaded without subtitles)
a. Find an HD quality music video
b. Find an SRT file for the movie it is in
c. Cut out the SRT file for the timing of the song within the movie
d. Embed modified SRT file into music video

I have tried Any Video Converter Lite and Handbrake, Any Video gives me the subs but I can't get the quality to be just like the original, and I can't tweak Handbrake to give me the subs (yes, I used the subtitle function).
I am not very familiar with the technology behind videos (h.264, xvid, bitrates, etc etc)

Anyone else had this issue? It's bugging the everliving hell out of me, cause I need to convert some sub/idx files right away.

I have recently started using mkv files stored on my external USB hard disk with which I watch the files on my TV through my Sony BD player...
I started using MMG (mkvmergeGUI) to add subtitles...

What I was wondering is:

Is it possible to add 2 subtitles to an MKV file and change between them on a standalone player?
I was aiming to add subtitles of 2 different languages...

I will be trying this soon, but I figured that someone might have already, and wouldn't mind sharing the result/experience...

I've just tried adding 2 subs to the mkv and muxing it again, but my Sony BD player just gives the option of turning on and off the subtitles.
What might I have done wrong? Or most likely I missed something, as I'm quite new to MMG...
Hope someone can help, perhaps with some instructions (if it is possible at all to have 2 subs)...

The usual way I look at movies & series with is streaming them to my computer using my bluray LG BD390 player as media center, with DLNA.

But in 3D you need to have two similar subs showing, side to side or up and below.

The srt subs I get to convert with 3D Subtitler, but I can't seem to play that.

I want to be able to use a program to make and add the same subtitles for this one video in two formats. Previously I did that by Vegas Pro, hardcoding the subs by Titles & Text effect, but that is actually meant for creating titles and the downside is that I cannot change any general options, every subtitle piece is a separate file. And another downside is that while finding some mistake, I have to re-encode the whole video again and that takes a lot of time. So I would like to keep the subtitles separate and use a proper program to make and add them later.

What would you suggest me to do? What is the latest good subtitle software? Is it possible to have a shadow and outline for softcoded subtitles?
