I had a good freeware convertor that converted sattelite media streams .tsp format, to MP3, and I cannot remember the application.

It had a black GUI interface with lime borders; anyone know it? Or another that imports .tsp stream?

I've got a quandry that I'd like to run by the forum.

I'm converting videos with audio (primarily 5.1 DTS and AC3) into WMV form. Now, my native encoder -- Microsoft Expression Encoder -- is incredibly finnicky when it comes to DirectShow filters, so a lot of my DTS/AC3 audio formats get a random error that's essentially unfixable when I try converting the audio via the VBR unconstrained route. I've searched for other filters (if anyone knows any non-DirectShow filters to try, please let me know) but no dice. I'm currently using LAVFilters with minor success.

My solution to that error, though, is to 1) convert the DTS/AC3 source to 640kbps AAC and then into VBR unconstrained or 2) convert DTS/AC3 directly via 1-pass CBR.

TL;DR version:

Will I be losing any quality going from DTS/AC3 -> 640kbps AAC -> VBR aside from the drop in bitrate?
Will I be losing any quality going from DTS/AC3 -> 1-pass CBR aside from the drop in bitrate?
Which method (between the above two) do you think would be the better option?

Thanks all.

He recorded the levels VERY low and there are some sort of cicada's or locusts making a high pitch hiss in the background. I am now back in the states and looking for any way I can salvage this audio to be used for an online only video. Keep in mind I work in final cut and only have the audio filters that come stock (apple & fcp)

I was trying to find an application that detects whether a lossless file is truly lossless because I have some reasonable doubts that some of my "lossless" files are not really lossless. Upon googling, I came across Lossless Audio Checker (http://losslessaudiochecker.com/). I was wondering if this tool is reliable given its application description and whether the method actually works.

I've used it and it confirmed that the lossless file I was suspicious of actually isn't lossless and files that I thought were lossless were detected as lossless. Is it accurate though? Is this application reputable? Is there a better way of checking whether lossless files are actually lossless? This is important because the point of a FLAC file is to sacrifice size for quality.

Thanks!

P.S. I was thinking of getting a pure FLAC collection (with each file checked so that they are actually 100% lossless) and then convert them to AAC or MP3 based on my standards. I want them to get the best quality:size ratio but with much greater emphasis on quality... I heard that high quality MP3/AAC files are significantly smaller than FLAC files but with negligible impact on quality. What application do I use do to this? LAME?

I also read that VBR and ABR sometimes cause problems playing so I guess I have to stick to CBR even though VBR is supposed to give you the highest quality. What I was thinking then is dragging the arrow all the way to 500 kbps and then clicking Encode Now. Is there anything in the Advanced Options I should change or am I set? :)

Hi. I want to mux 2 audio streams in a video, the first is perefectly synchronyzed, the second goes very well at the beginning, but nearly in the end there's a problem: In the last 10 or 15 minutes of the video, the audio goes out of synchronization for about 1 second. You can notice this in for example, the explosions and the shoots of the weapons: they appear before the sound, but only during those last 15 minutes... The out of synch is constant, not progressive, i mean, it is about 1 second of delay until the end.

I was asking if there is a way to solve it without the need of recurring of software like adobe premier or sony vegas; I know they are excellent and easy to use. I've used them before. But they are expensive and i need to convert the files to something compatible with them and create the final video with them, which is a lot of time and a great loss of quality (audio 5.1, blurry video, etc.)

I'd like to view two stereo tracks at once. I want them to share the same timeline, so any time I zoom into a selection, I'd see the waveform of the very same part of both tracks.

The job I'm doing is syncing one audio track to another. So I need to see both waveforms simultaneously to find out at what points should I insert some silence or delete parts on one track to sync it up with the other. View and zoom separately would be extremely tiresome and slow.

If it would be two mono signals, it'd be fine: I could handle them as a stereo track, and edit only the right (or left) channel.

Note that I don't want to edit the two tracks at the same time. I want to edit only one of them.

Is this possible to do in GoldWave? Or perhaps in another audio editor which has programmable hotkeys? The problem is that I'm really used to GoldWave and its hotkeys and it would be very painful to do such a job with different key combinations.

Thanks in advance!
