Best settings for converting any file to Samsung Galaxy S4?

Compatibility shouldn't be an issue because I can still have the files synced and played on the phone without a problem, but converting is necessary to save file space.

With Handbrake (unless there's a better alternative?), I'm not sure what specific settings to use. I can use the "Android" preset, but it is very vague and I want to be as accurate as possible to get the best quality:size ratio, prioritizing quality (removing only the negligible quality to reduce the size).

Specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9500_galaxy_s4-5125.php

For example, what anamorphic setting, Constant quality (and what RF value) vs. Avg Bit rate, Auto passthru for audio, etc.

Thanks so much.

Ok, so I'm getting ready for a trip, and have this really bad crappy tablet that I bought strictly for playing back video, since it was an advertised feature of this piece of junk.

I've found that this tablet has a major flaw, in that, if the video starts with a black screen, it won't playback the video on the file.

I have a bunch of files that many of them start with a black frame.

So, I've been converting them to mp4 using handbrake, it's convenient to be able to cue up a bunch of files, walk away and have it do it's thing, come back and they're all done. So I'd like to keep doing it with handbrake, or use another program that allows that same feature. The thing is....I need a program that I can just set to chop a second off the start of the file, so I can make sure my files all start with something other than a black frame, so they will all work on this piece of junk.

What will do this?

Hi all,

Longtime reader / first time poster, hope someone can help me with this mess:

I want to edit a bunch of FLV files (h264 Mpeg4 part 10 AVC 1), can't import them into Premiere CS6 though (not supported).
There is a plugin for Premiere, but it won't work for CS 6.
So it leaves me with the option of converting them into an uncompressed (re-compression is not an option) format first.
I'm on a PC, and tried tons of garbage software that left me unsatisfied.
I ended up with Sorenson Squeeze to do a conversion to an uncompressed AVI. It came out with an RGB-RAW Codec, which is... *drumroll*... not supported by Premiere Pro (the PRO in Premiere PRO stands for "PRObably in the next version" i guess, hehe, sorry, back to topic)
I installed other lossless codecs like Huffyuv and UTvideo, but they didn't show up in Sorenson squeeze, exporting as
an uncompressed quicktime crashed the program.

Any helpful thoughts to the problem above are highly appreciated, and as a bonus question to the masters:
What more or less professional "one for all" encoding software do people use these days besides Squeeze?

Thanks a lot in advance!

I have been looking over a couple different discussions as of late in regards to what file type/file format to use when setting up or configuring your own media server. I thought I would stop by here and get opinions on the best options for what I'm doing.
Here is some basic information about my setup:
Video files being viewed: Mainly TV Shows, DVDs, short films
Current file types: Usually .mp4 or .avi (Divx or others)
NOTE: I've been using these two formats primarily because they play well through my PS3 or my iDevice.
Programs being used: AVS Video Converter (converter program), PS3 Media Server

I know it seems a bit mundane but of the different file formats available I am looking to get the best quality video for the least amount of space. When I compared the .avi and .mp4 files in most cases it appeared that the .avi format was twice as large as the .mp4 files. I also took the time to review two of these files in their respective formats and couldn't really see a noticeable difference between the two.

I looked around the forums here and didn't really come across anything that stuck out at me. If this question has been asked in the past, please kindly point me in the right direction and I will proceed there. Also, I am familiar with PC terminology as well as most video jargon.

I'm mainly looking to get a feel for what the majority of users are using and what kind of success they have had.

Thanks in advance!

The converted file looks great and is hard to tell from the original. However I am trying to convert some golf tournaments that I have transfered over from my Tivo and are in MPEG-PS (acording to MediaInfo).
No matter how I convert the files they always look really choppy and shaky. Is there anything I can do in the settings of Vidcoder to fix this? I have tried the constant quality option and the avg bitrate option at 6500 kbps and it still is pretty bad. I am also using the h.264 video codec. Thanks for any advice

I've Tried tsMuxer so far by changing the FPS to 23,976 and Remove Pulldown Option but this occurs in the following Errors:

I was wondering if anyone here has this program. I find that when creating either DVD or BluRay, the audio output is always out of synch. I know that the input files are fine as I test them to ensure that the audio matches the lip movement. I have advised the company and they keep asking me to uninstall and re install the program, which I have done numerous times. The problem persists. They have asked me to send an example file to them, this I have also done, but they are like a broken record and keep asking for the same thing. I note that when doing a conversion you can preview both the input and output audio/video, and in all cases the audio is out of synch on both source and destination screens. This really is weird as I know the source file is fine. They simply refuse to believe that there is any issue with their program. I have communicated with a couple of people who are on their forum who have similar issues. One cannot even suggest on their forum that there is an issue with the program without the post being deleted. Thus far I have paid money for a program that is useless and it seems as though the company refuses to admit that it is fundamentally flawed. Any help comments much appreciated.

Hi folks,

I have file $1:

Resolution: 640x352
Codec: MP4
Framerate: 23,98 fps

Hi folks,

I have file $1:

Container: MP4
Duration: 00:20:07.40
$Video:
Resolution: 640x352
Codec: MP4
Framerate: 23,98 fps

$Audio:
Samplerate: 44100Hz
Language: Portuguese
Codec: AAC

And file #2:
Container: MKV
Duration: 00:19:47.04
$Video:
Resolution: 1280x720
Codec: H264
Framerate: 23,98 fps

$Audio:
Samplerate: 48000Hz
Language: English
Codec: AC3

Also, audio from file #1 has 2236ms of silence at beginning, which means a constant delay.
Using mkvmerge to mux them all in one MKV, and putting a -2236ms delay on portuguese audio track, this track starts synced but the longer the film runs the more its being out of sync.

I also tried to extract audio track with MP4Box to AAC and insert to MKV using mkvmerge, and alternatively converting AAC to MP3 or AC3, but in the end is always out of sync.

The output of ffprobe for file #1 is:
